Integration and Application of Knowledge in Civil, Social and Personal Contexts
This is a video that I made for my humanities class, are main focus is to do a final project that we have talked about in class. One thing that most humanities class talks about is race, since race is a big problem in this society, I just didn’t want to write a paper or make a PowerPoint about the history of racism or who were dealing with it, so what I wanted to use is social media, since most people lives revolve around it. Say you’re just scrolling down you news feed and you come across a picture or a video and it says something racist, people will ignore it or they will respond to it, this is where I got the idea for my video, say two people respond to the post on will take offense to the picture/video and may say “that’s a someone’s culture or ethnicity your making fun of and I don’t see why you should be putting this up” one will look at it and say “it’s nothing to worry about, I don’t see why people are making a big deal about it.” What if I say the one that took offense was the same ethnicity as the joke or an issue that they face because of what they are, and the one said don’t worry about is of another ethnicity, or if it’s the opposite. I wanted four groups: Native American, Caucasian, Mexicans, and Polynesians, from there I put two people in each group; one from that ethnicity and one from another and I wanted to see their reaction and how they act about it once I show them the same video/picture. I think how AMES Academy is different from other High School is the diversity of kids, most kids took offense to it and explain about, I was surprise that people knew something about another ethnicity then their own and they reacted as someone in the same ethnicity.
